Actress Writer Filmmaker
Dear Website Wanderer,
Hello! Welcome to Veronica Maccari’s artist webpage. Whether you’re here to evaluate Veronica’s talent, personality and experience in relation to a possible professional opportunity or perhaps to do a bit of soft internet stalking before going on a date with her, I first and foremost would like to let you know that you are welcome here. This is a safe space for you to look at her face twelve times in the Headshot section, keep up with her creative endeavors through the News page or learn about her epic journey that has brought her to where she is today, in this About Me area. Well then, let’s start from the beginning of her story, shall we?
Veronica hails from the land of pasta, prosciutto and Sophia Lauren… you guessed it, Italy! Specifically from the city of Milan (now you know why she’s always so fashionable). Up until the end of high school she was a hybrid between a (hot) bookworm (so she says), an artsy freethinker… and a national sailing team athlete. Yeah. You read that correctly. That means that she sailed around the world in 15+ national, international, World and European championships with the youth pre-Olympic Italian team. Come the end of senior year, she found herself being torn between different career paths. After all, she was an international champion but also a straight-A student who ended up on the paper for scoring 100/100 on the final national high school exam (for the record, she would never brag like this but she’s not the one writing this bio, so. There.).
The answer came to her on a crisp Tuesday morning. On that fateful day, she turned to Facebook and announced, “Ciao amici, I’m going to the US to be an actor!” Well… Duh. Anyone could have seen that one coming (not!!!). Okay, hold on, the truth is that she had been acting quite a bit “in the shadows” of her sailing and academic career so, to be fair, this wasn’t THAT out of the blue.
Here comes another wild plot twist in the life of my client (pro bono). She was offered a sweet full ride for sailing at Hampton University (Virginia), an HBCU (Historically Black Colleges and Universities) that also happened to offer a Theater Arts major. Take a second to read that one more time. Now picture Veronica, blond hair flying in the wind, blissfully cruising on her pink bike (courtesy of her mother, genius) from the theater to the boat dock, in her SAILING GEAR, in a historically black college. (Don’t try to steal this movie idea – she’s working on it already). During this time, other than experiencing the wildest culture shock in her life, she wrote and starred as the lead of a short film, Samantha, which took her all the way to Cannes Film Festival in 2015.
This was the beginning of the end.
JK, this was the beginning of the BEGINNING. She took a leap of faith and moved to New York where she attended the rigorous acting conservatory at the American Musical and Dramatic Academy (AMDA), and she graduated a year and a half later (once a nerd, always a nerd). Once she became a Certified Acteur, she worked as a film, TV and theatre performer in the Big Apple while writing projects she also starred in. A notable example was her film, In Between (2018), shot while performing in the regional tour of Macbeth with the company Shakespeare on the Sound.
But then she got tired of the cold. And the smell. And the subway, of course. So she moved to Los Angeles.
She finally got a real degree by completing her BFA in Performing Arts at AMDA’s L.A. campus (with Honors, obvi) and started working in the entertainment industry on the west coast. Don’t worry, I won’t list her whole resume. I’ll just mention some of what she considers to be her “coolest” credits. Because she wants you to know that she’s “real cool”. Anyway, in theater, she performed in the hit Off-Broadway show My Big Gay Italian Wedding at the Hudson Theater, the acclaimed thriller play Red Bar at the 2019 Hollywood Fringe Festival and the sold out outdoors Shakespeare show King Lear, by Dean Productions. In film, she starred as one of the leads of the indie feature Reception, currently in post. She also wrote, produced and starred as the lead of two more films, Foreigners' Tales (2018), and Polly Pocket (2019), which was an Official Selection in 14 festivals and has won 4 awards so far (find out more about this project by clicking in the designated tab at the top of the page). Gold Star for you, Veronica, get it!
Now, at the moment, she’s working on developing a really awesome web series, which she’ll write (already in the process), direct and play the lead. Sorry, but she made me swear I wouldn’t reveal anything about it. All I’ll say is that… it may or may not be a dramedy about an out-of-luck female painter who, desperate to get noticed, steals an outrageous idea from her ex-boyfriend and turns it into this extra feminist performance art piece that makes her go viral for all the wrong reasons. I know, you're like GIMME ME MORE. I’m sorry, but unless you're Netflix or HBO or Amazon or Hulu or Facebook Watch or Instagram TV (I’m sure there’s more that I can’t think of at the moment), I’m legally prohibited to give you any details. What I can do, is suggest that you try your luck by writing to her directly, using the email listed at the bottom of this page or through the contact form below. I told her she’s supposed to reply within 1-2 business days. She's working on it.
And… that’s it. The End. Fin. For now. What an exceptional human being she is, isn’t she? I think so too. Thank you for sticking it out ‘til the end, my faithful Casting Director/ Bumble Dater. If you liked this bio I wrote for her, you can show me your appreciation by… Mmm, I dunno. Perhaps by hiring her? I guess that could work. Yeah, do that. Please. And thank you.
Okay byyye! Ciaooo!
